Flashback: Februaury 3, 2008

Wow, I cannot believe on this day this year I was laying (well, trying to lay) in bed waiting for mom to hurry up and get down to New Bedford and this is after I was already in labor for a week and a half!!! I KNOW! lol. So this is how it all started. When Louie was in INS at this time last year I was sleeping on the couch. I couldn't sleep in our bed alone, way to sad and creepy. I would just hold his pillows and cry and I couldn't stress out my baby anymore them she was. So I slept on the couch and constantly had the TV going because I didn't wanna think (it helped a little but not much). So on Feb. 2nd 2008 my niece Catarina and I had gone to the grocery store to pick up a few things, little did I know I was in back labor. My water had been breaking little by little for that whole week and a half but been medical advice and other pregnant women, I was totally convinced that Emmy was sitting on my blatter and thats why I was pissing myself, lol. NOPE! It was my water breaking little by little and why would I think it was my water breaking anyway? It was 6 weeks before her due date and yes, my back hurt a lot, but I didn't even think of back labor, my stomach had popped out so much I looked like I was having twins and everyone thought I was truly having multiples. So I thought I was just having back pain from carrying such a big belly around. So...at the end of shopping with my niece I was in so much pain I couldn't even bag my groceries, she bagged them all and took my to Louie's dads van. We went at and I fell asleep until 3 o'clock that morning. I was awakened by a HUGE grush and what felt like a leg coming out (weird feeling). I called my mother and told her what happened and how the pain was so much worse. We both thought it was a pinched nerve, but it was in the back of both our minds what it was. Mom called in sick and drove down to New Bedford. I had to go get my medication first, she insisted on taking me to the hospital right then, but I said no. So after I got my medication I told her to take me to McDonalds (because I have to eat with my medicine, LOL!!!) So we are sitting the McDonalds drive thru and I am reclining the seat back and forth screaming the whole time, HAHA! My child was almost born there. So mom got me my food, (which I couldn't eat by the way, my Egg McMuffin was out the window after one tiny bite) and took off to the ER right away. We got there and mom wheeled me into the waiting room. I told them I thought I had a pinched nerve. They put me in a wheel chair and took me to materinity. I was checked immediately and they said I was in labor and already had been for a while. They also confirmed my "foot" theory. Her foot was already hanging out of me and had been for 4 hours!! They threw scrubs at mom and wheeled me in for my emergency c-section. At first they told me I was going to have to be put out for the surgery and I was so upset. I did not want to miss my daughter's birth. Little did I know they had mom out in the hallway telling her that there was a big possibility that Emelia and I could die. They kept telling me to stay still. I don;t know if you have expirienced BACK LABOR...AINT. GONNA. HAPPEN!!!!! LOL. I did the best I could to deal with the worst pain I have felt in my life. After sticking a huge needle in my spine they got it on the second shot. I started to feel some relief and was much more relaxed. They put a blue sheet inbewtween my neck and my chest so I couldn't see anything. Mom saw everything and I am surprised she didn't vomit everywhere. lol. She watched them take out my organs and I could smell something nasty when they were cutting me open. Then as I was laying there I was blood splatter all over the blue sheet, lol. Not very comforting!! Then mom told me that Emelia was out. I heard them say 8:29 and I was relieved because if they had said 8:30 I would have yelled at them for the EXACT time, for some reason the exact time is important to me. So mom saw them take her out and the first words from mom "OH MY GOD! SHE LOOKS JUST LIKE LOUIE!!!!!" and she was laughing, she couldn't believe how much she looked just like him. Then I looked to my right and saw all these doctors standing around Emelia, blocking mine and moms view of her. Later I found out that they were resusiating her. They got her breathing right away and handed her to mom. She was like "see how much she looks just like him!!" LOL. I couldn't believe it, she was truly a mini-Louie. When I looked at her I fell in love instantly, I couldn't believe I was looking at MY daughter. I told her that I loved her and she was taken to the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). I was taken out of surgery and the taken to the recovery room where they piled tons of warm blankets on me. This whole time I was worried about Louie. We talked on the phone every morning at 9am. I knew Louie had been calling was VERY worried. So he called his mom who didn't know where I was either which totally freaked him out. So I asked my mom to call Louie's mom's house and my sister in law Leslie answered and she told her about Emelia. I made some other phone calls after that too, but I was so worried about Louie. I heard later that Louie called his moms house and he said "Did you hear from Lindsay yet?" and his mom said "You're a daddy" and Louie just started crying and hung up. I didn't get to talk to Louie until 4 days later because our phone acct. wasn't set up to call the hospital and Louie could only call me. So the day Emmy was born was bitter sweet, I had the best thing that ever happened to me in my whole life in my arms but she came during the worst time of my life. I stayed in the hospital for 5 days, doing Physical therapy and sitting with Emelia. A lot of the time I was on the phone with Louie's lawyer and making phone calls to do with Louie's case. He had also made me his power of attorney because he couldn't trust anyone else. He knew I would do whatever it took to get him home. It was so crazy because some people thought I should have been dedicating all my energy to Emelia and not working on Louie's case (and yes, the lawyer and paralegal did shit and I did everything, the applications, the letters, getting his wrap sheets, you name it. the only reason we got him is because he had a good name) But anyway. I knew I had to work on Louie's case and get him out or my daughter wouldn't have a normal life. When I got out of the hospital I came home to an empty house. I just had a a baby and she was in the hospital and Louie was in INS. It was rock bottom. But now I look around and I see Louie holding and they are both laughing and I know the hell we went through was totally worth it. Well, gotta get ready for Emmy's little party. Louie's family is coming over for cake tonight. I'l post later with some pictures.

Virus & Scam Warnings

Hey everyone just wanted to let you know somethings first. There are a few new scams going around out there and I just wanted to let you know what they are. My friend Jenny gave her bank her cell phone number to contact her and so the cell phone and the bamk account are mow linked up (I suppose they could reach you by automated message at home too). But these scammers send Jenny a text saying that her debit card was deactivated and to call this 800 number to reactivate it. She was suspisous but called anyway and they asked her to enter her card number, PIN, and exp. date. She knew it was a scam right away because they obviously ask for your account number, not your card number and we all now we dont give our PIN out to anyone. So Jenny called her bank and they told her that these scams have not just been happening with her bank (TD Bank North) but a lot of others. Also, I just got a pop-up on my computer saying this "Warning!!! Your computer contains various signs of viruses & malware" DO NOT believe this, it's a virus and lot of people are getting them. My anti-virus program just expired so thats why I am getting them. But Don't click OK or CANEL becuase both are links to the site. I right-clicked on the top of the box and selected close.

So anyway, last night Emmy's cousins Andrew, Mikey, and Cat came up work on Emmy's birthday banner. They had a lot of fun. Also, Louie was carrying Emmy in his arms and chasing Mikey around the house with her. Emmy kept yelling and trying to grab him, she was having so much fun! I tried to record it but it didn't work, I was so sad cause it was so cute. I cannot believe tomorrow is her birthday! Can't wait for the party!

Hi everyone, nothing is really new around here. Just lots of planning for a very special 1st birthday party! I am also trying to get my niece and nephews up here to help me make Emelia's birthday banner. To save money and do something special at the same time. I asked Catarina, Andrew, and Mikey if they would help me make a birthday banner for Emelia's party. Catarina is an amazing artist so I know it will look great. But I am going to have the decorate it and then have them each write something to her on it so I can show her when she's older. So I am just planning out all the specifics and making my party list. well. not much to say. Here is a pic of Emmy partying in her play pen!

Today Emmy and I were up bright and early to go to our friday group. Vavo and Vavu (Portuguese for grandmother and grandfather, Louie's parents) picked us up at 9am. We had a fun group this week. Everyone loves playing with Emmy the whole time and her new thing is clapping so she had everybody in the whole group clapping with her, SO FUNNY! Even all the guys in the group love playing with her, LOL. Everyone says she looks like a porcelin doll. But anyway, every week after group my friend Holly drives Emmy and I home. Holly is my friend from group, awesome that she is my age and her daughter Madison is a few months older than Emmy. I just hate that Maddy doesn't come to group anymore. =( So after group Holly picked up Maddy and drove us home. But on the way there Emmy and Maddy had a conversation in baby talk. I have some pics of them. LOL. So we came home and played for a while and then daddy came home and she couldn't wait to have play time with him! She always gets so excited when he walks through the door. So for dinner one of the things we had was mashed potatos, which she never liked before. But since she climbs all over us for food while we're eating (HAHA) I let her try it again and this time she couldn't get enough of them. Tonight was pretty chaotic though. There are people moving into the 3rd floor in a couple weeks so they were re-doing the floors upstairs and thats all we could hear...ANNOYING! lol. Not to mention I had an eye migraine (which was funny to mom cause she says I always get what she gets, lol. I told her I better NOT! =) So during all the noise and trying to cook dinner by nephews came up to annoy me for a while...they got kicked out pretty quick tonight though! Emmy's Birthday Wish List

Hi everyone, I just wanted to do a quick post about Emelia's first birthday. Her actual birth date is Feb. 3rd. But I will be having her birthday party on Valentine's Day Feb. 14th at 2pm. People have been asking me what to do for presents (Please don't feel like you need to buy anything, just your presence will be gift enough!). So I made a wish list on www.Babiesrus.com and it's listed under my name. I put things on there that start around $10 and the age range for toys is 6-12 months and her clothes size is 9 months ( I know, such a little peanut!!). So I am planning the birthday party this afternoon with Louie (going over the details) and the invites will go out this weekend. Thats about all for now, I will have more info on the details in tonight's or tomorrow night's post. Well, gotta run.

Emmy's Nursery

This morning Emmy and I got up at about 8 o'clock and after breakfast we played for a while and mommy took lots of pictures. Emmy was up on her knees crawling today, there was no comando crawling today! I also took some pictures of her nursery (here at the new house). We have worked hard on making it look nice for Emmy. It's not 100% done yet, but I only have to hang up a couple more things on the walls and it will be done. So then tonight my nephew Andrew came up so I could help him with his homework. He came in while I was making Emmy's bottle and I heat the water and then pour the powdered formula in and shake it. Well, while I was shaking it the cover flew off and hit me in the face and then the formula sprayed all other my face too, HAHAHA! He was on the floor laughing. I couldn't stop laughing either. So thats about it. Gotta get up early tomorrow. Here are some pictures.

Today I woke up to a white snowy neighborhood. When Emelia and I got up this morning I brought her over to the window and let her watch the snow fall. She was smiling while she looked out the window. So this morning she had her bottle and watched Sesame Street and then this afternoon I baked a cake and some corn muffins while Emelia watched from her high chair. I sit her in her hair chair with lots of toys and since her newest thing is throwing anything she can get her hands on, I make sure all the toys I give her are soft so when she chucks them across the room they won't break. LOL. So after we I was done baking my friend Jenny stopped by again after her last afternoon class. Emelia was smiling at her when she got there and then after a while she went down for a nap. So when she woke up Jenny was still here and so I figured I'd get a picture of them since the last one I have was from when she was first born. So I sat her in Jenny's lap and I don't think she remember her from before she went down for her nap, LOL. She looked up at her and smiled for a minute but then started to cry. Then again, she did have a "mommy" day today. She always wants to be with mommy and daddy, but today she definately had a mommy day. She only wanted me all day. Which I love of course! But I felt bad that she cried when I gave her to Jenny. Anyway, we didn't end up getting much snow down here, but I heard Boston got a good amount. Down here it snowed for a while but then the rain just turned it to slush. My niece and nephews were not very happy that New Bedford wasn't included in the school closings this morning! Also, Emmy talked to Nana on the phone today, twice. I put mom on speaker phone and Emmy holds and plays with the phone while mom talks to her and Emmy just smiles and talks her baby language back to mom. lol. It's so cute. So after our dinner, Louie and I played with Emmy for a while in our bed, (she's is such a remote thief! lol) but I would say the end of our day is always the most precious. Emmy has a big chair in her room and every night I turn on the lullaby cd's that Aunt Diane, Uncle Bobby, and Galen gave Emmy over the summer, and rock her to sleep. That is always my favorite time of the day. Corny, but true! LOL. Well that was our day. Here are a couple pics, 1 new, 1 old. Oh, and you can also click on the picture to enlarge it.
